MICRODIA Performance Perfection for Leading Motorsport Photographer
Thu, 23 Oct 2008
MICRODIA flash memory cards were recently put through their paces in the field. Top official Australian V8 Supercar Series photographer, Mark Horsburgh, used MICRODIA CompactFlash cards to shoot the Australian V8 Supercar Series race. Horsburgh also shoots for the most respected magazines in world motor sport, including Auto Action, Brand Agencies Reuters Australia, and the Fairfax Group.
Horsburgh uses two Canon 1Ds Mark III cameras, which take 21 megapixel images each and require the fastest cards to handle the colossal file sizes when shooting motor sports.
“Since using MICRODIA cards and Readers this year, I have noticed a faster turnaround in processing cards after shooting an event,” said Horsburgh. He uses the XTRA ELITE CompactFlash memory card, which has a speed of 300X or 45MBps.
The XTRA ELITE series is engineered specially to serve the demanding needs of prominent professional photographers, like Horsburgh, who require maximum performance, particularly from their continuous burst shots. At full utilization, the XTRA ELITE captures at ten frames per second, ensuring difficult-to-secure photographs and video footage are acquired.
Said Horsburgh, “[W]hen shooting motor sport, MICRODIA cards have no problem with [the speed and file sizes] even when shooting in long bursts. The cards never let the camera buffer fill.”
A critical part of being a successful photographer is the fast processing of images after shooting. A top quality card reader is an essential part of this process, as evinced by Horsburgh, “Using the MICRODIA high speed card reader and cards, this process is quicker than ever before with cards downloading in lightning speeds.”
The card reader in use is the FlashMover ELITE UDMA card reader. It is designed to complement the XTRA ELITE card series, offering a high speed file transfer for professional photographers through its FireWire 800/400 interface.
“I look forward to working with MICRODIA to capture the events,” continued Horsburgh. “Then be able to show and tell motorsport supporters the images captured by my team are the best because of MICRODIA memory cards.”
MICRODIA was very pleased to learn of Horsburgh's commendation. Said Founder and CEO of MICRODIA, Louis Leung, “The XTRA ELITE memory card series and ELITE UDMA card reader provides the best total data storage solution for eminent photographers whose time is valuable. MICRODIA strives to innovate and develop technological turnkey data storage solutions to make everyone's lives simpler and more enjoyable.”
MICRODIA's comprehensive range of flash memory card solutions, offering the world's fastest read/write speeds and highest capacities, includes the XTRA ELITE 300X series, engineered specially to serve the demanding needs of prominent professional photographers. Other data storage solutions include the high-end professional series XTRA Pro, mid-range semi-professional series XTRA Plus, and entry-level series XTRA.
MICRODIA flash memory cards are compatible with the latest digital camera technology on the market, like the Canon EOS Mark III* and the new Casio Exilim Pro EX-F1*, the latter of which captures at 60 frames per second. Maximizing the cameras' potential requires memory cards designed for capacity and speed.
With a solid commitment to R&D and continued technological advancement, MICRODIAcontinues to play a major role in the flash memory industry.
MICRODIAis looking to develop long-term strategic business partners and distributors in various countries and regions to explore the exponential growth in flash drive products.
